Three Spectacular Summer Events in the Twin Cities

You’ve survived another long, cold winter of treacherous driving, parking restrictions, and back-breaking shoveling! Summer in the Twin Cities is the reward, in part for its many festivals and events. Here are three:

Minneapolis Aquatennial, July 24 – 27, 2019, Minneapolis

A Twin Cities mainstay since 1940, the Minneapolis Aquatennial “is the official civic celebration of the City of Minneapolis”. Events include: a nighttime “Torchlight Parade” through downtown replete with fireworks, an evening riverfront 5k run, a Family Fun Night featuring free canoe rides on Loring Pond, free transit passes to events, and more…

X Games, August 1 – 4, 2019, Minneapolis

Returning to US Bank Stadium for a third consecutive year, X Games, will again feature international skateboard, BMX, and Moto X competitions, alongside musical performances by The Blind Shakes, Chevy Metal, Diplo, Incubus, P.O.S., SWMRS, and Wu-Tang Clan. Let no one doubt where the action in Minneapolis will take place the first week of August!

Minnesota State Fair, August 22 – September 2, 2019, Falcon Heights

Marking the end of summer for many, the “great Minnesota get-together”–whose origins in 1954 predate Minnesota’s statehood–The Minnesota State Fair is second only to Texas in annual attendance, and offers activities and sights too numerous to mention. Highlights include:

  • Grandstand concerts every evening
  • Free concerts and activities throughout the day
  • Food on sticks at every turn
  • Cookies and french fries by the bucketful
  • All-you-can-drink-milk
  • Butter sculpted before your very eyes
  • Livestock competitions
  • A “Miracle of Birth” center
  • Educational and historical exhibits
  • Arts and crafts
  • Shopping, natch
  • Midway rides and games
  • Marching bands
  • Skyrides and a Space Tower
  • Free people-watching galore
  • Did we mention food on sticks?

Surely The Fair has something for everyone! Don’t you deserve some summer fun? The snow will return soon enough! Please visit Twin Cities Appliance often for more local news, tips, and top-notch appliance repair.
