Minnesota Orchestra Family Concerts: Thanksgiving at Jurassic Park and More

Celebrate the holidays with at least one special outing to the Minnesota Orchestra Family Concerts. There’s Jurassic Park for Thanksgiving, Beauty and the Beast for Christmas, and Star Wars for the New Year. Have lots of fun and introduce your kids to a love for classical music, a gift that will enrich their lives for years to come. Here are some of the highlights for the holiday season and the coming year.
Jurassic Park in Concert, November 24 and 25: The blockbuster dinosaur film that started the whole series will be projected in HD with a full symphony orchestra performing John Williams’ score.
Home for the Holidays, December 14, 16, and 20: This holiday tradition always has a few new surprises. Enjoy a funny and touching evening of music and storytelling about celebrating Christmas Minnesota style.
Disney Beauty and the Beast in Concert, December 22: Who can forget Gaston, Something There, and Belle? You and your children will love this musical performance and live screening no matter how many times you’ve seen the movie.
Star Wars: A New Hope, January 3, 4, 5, and 6: For science fiction fans, there’s the original Star Wars movie. It’s part of Minnesota Orchestra’s American Expressions, celebrating the diversity of American classical music.
Don’t worry about missing any dialogue either. All the screenings will have English subtitles. They’re all at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, except for Disney Beauty and the Beast that will be at the Minneapolis Convention Center Auditorium.
Visit the Minnesota Orchestra online for the full program and ticket information. The 2019 schedule includes old favorites and new programs like Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals and Star Trek: Into Darkness. You can buy tickets for a single performance or create your own family concert series.
