3 Great Places to Buy Affordable Art in Minneapolis

Minneapolis has a reputation for being cold, but it can warm the heart of any art lover on a budget. You don’t have to be rich to decorate your home with one of a kind works and support local artists. Here are 3 of our favorite places to find great values on fine art and crafts.

Northrup King Building:

There’s always something happening at the largest art complex in Minnesota. The Northrup King Building is home to more than 300 artists and other small businesses and nonprofits. Contact individual artists for their hours or visit during scheduled events. That includes Open Saturdays and First Thursdays, as well as open studio tours during Art-A-Whirl each May. The biggest annual shopping event is Art Attack each November, complete with live music and food trucks too. You can also take art classes year round and shop for furniture, apparel, and other handmade and local goods.

Minnetonka Center for the Arts:

Incorporating art into daily life is the mission of the Minnetonka Center for the Arts. Their Art Shop and Center is open most of the year for convenient shopping each week Monday through Saturday. You can also enjoy a full schedule of exhibits, events, and classes for all ages. Buy a membership to receive generous discounts and other benefits.

Minneapolis College of Art and Design:

The MCAD Art Sale is an annual tradition that gets bigger every year. The 2019 sale in November featured almost 7,000 pieces from over 400 students and alumni. With nothing over $1,500, it’s a prime opportunity to purchase works by emerging artists. Check the calendar for other community programs and events, including the annual party and art auction in May, with proceeds going to the MCAD Scholarship Fund.Book your repair 24/7 at Twin Cities Appliance Service.
