How to Locate the Model and Serial Number on Whirlpool Appliances

How essential is it to be able to locate the model and serial numbers on your appliances?

Perhaps you’re registering a new product, needing a repair, or just searching for information online. The name is the thing! Here’s a quick guide to locating the model and serial numbers on appliances in the Whirlpool family, which includes Maytag, Amana, JennAir, KitchenAid, and, of course, Whirlpool products:

Cooktops: on the underside of the unit

Dishwashers: on the rim inside the door

Disposals: attached to the side of the unit

Dryers: on the rim inside the door

Microwaves: on the rim inside the door

Ranges: on the rim inside the oven drawer

Refrigerators: on the wall inside the refrigerator

Trash compactors: on the rim inside the drawer

Wall ovens: on the rim inside the door

Washers: on the rim beneath the lid

This information can also be found on Whirlpool’s website, complete with pictures. And now that you know the crucial numbers, you can download owner’s manuals and literature on Whirlpool.com as well. Most owner’s manuals will contain installation instructions, along with their use and care guides.

Whirlpool’s product registration can be found here, and their Customer Care page is here, with links to accessories, service plans, parts, replacement filters, and more. Incidentally, while you’re visiting the site, you might also want to peruse the “Appliance IQ” tab for a wealth of tips and tricks, such as “how to organize your laundry room,” “how to unclog your dishwasher,” and “how to keep clothes from pilling.” The technology-inclined might also enjoy Whirlpool at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show, featuring the latest in smart appliances.
