4 More Common Refrigerator Problems and What To Do About Them (Continued)

Having problems with your fridge? Here are some more common issues and what to do about them.

Makes Lots of Noise

This can indicate a problem with either the condenser fan or the evaporator fan. Make sure that there is nothing obstructing their paths. Always turn off the power before inspecting them. It’s possible that one of their motors is faulty as well. The evaporator fan grommet, which is supposed to reduce vibration noise, may not be working properly and may need to be replaced.

Fridge Constantly Running Cycles

This usually means that your fridge is too cold and is not able to remove heat effectively. It can be caused by a number of reasons. For example, the condenser coils, which help remove heat from the fridge, may be dirty and covered with dust. The evaporator coils may be covered with frost, which can happen if the defrosting function is not working properly.

Compressor Fan Not Working

If the compressor fan is not working, your fridge may overheat. It will also probably make some weird noises. You need to get the fan replaced. If the compressor is working but makes a lot of noise, it probably is time to replace it as well.

Freezer Freezing Too Much

If your freezer is literally covered with ice and is starting to look like Antarctica, then you may have been leaving the doors open too long. This causes humidity to build up in the freezer, which will then freeze when you close the door again. It is also possible that the door is not closing properly. This can be because of a faulty door seal or something blocking the door.
The above problems can easily be repaired, but it’s best not to tinker around with your fridge yourself. Contact us today for professional help.
