RECALL ALERT: Whirlpool Brand Glass Cooktops

Did you purchase a Whirlpool Brand Glass Cooktop with touch controls between 2017-2019?   If so, your cooktop could be on the recall list.  The Whirlpool glass cooktop brands impacted by the recall are as follows: KitchenAid, Jenn Air and Whirlpool.  The recall alert was announced on August 28, 2019, for Whirlpool brands manufactured between December 2016 and July 2019.  Whirlpool Corporation issued the recall when it was discovered that the cooktops can turn on by themselves, posing burn risks and fire hazards.  The recall number is 19-189.  The appliances were manufactured in the United States and sold at Lowes, The Home Depot, Best Buy and other appliance stores in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

To determine if this recall impacts your appliance, begin by locating the model and serial number on your cooktop.  For assistance in locating the model/serial number, visit the Whirlpool website for helpful directions.  Once the model and serial numbers are located, cross-check the numbers with those listed for the recall.  This cross-checking can be done on the Whirlpool website or the Consumer Product Safety Commission website.

If the recall impacts your glass cooktop, stop using your appliance due to the safety risks outlined above.  Next, contact Whirlpool to confirm the recall.  This must be done before you schedule an appointment to replace and repair your cooktop.

After you have made contact with Whirlpool, contact us.  Our website allows for easy online scheduling.   For our customer convenience, our website allows you to monitor the status of your repair.  On the scheduled repair date, you can also monitor the location of the appliance technician.   Our goal is to make the repair process transparent, professional and efficient.
