Product Recall

Prizer-Painter Stove Works has recalled their line of wall oven and gas ranges because of a consumer hazard.

Recall Information

The Consumer Product Safety Commission sent out a recall notice on September 11, 2018, for their range of Blue Star and Big Chill wall ovens and gas ranges. The recall came after the risk of burn hazards that stem from accumulated gas caused by the convection oven fan while pre-heating or broiling.  The manufacturer received fifty-one reports of flames and flares caused by a delay in gas ignition as well as seven reports of minor burns.

Units Affected

Eight models from the range were affected. The serial number can be found at the Commission’s website, the Bluestar website as well as the Big Chill website. An estimate of 7130 units was affected by this recall.

The manufacturer recommends that the consumer keep the convection fan turned off until they’re contacted for a repair if there is a need for one. Prizer-Painter Stove Works can be contacted at 800-449-8691 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m, or on their websites where you can receive any more information or updates about the recall.
