The Twin Cities are a great place to live and raise a family. If you enjoy giving back to our community, you’ll enjoy the first-ever Festival of Giving on September 30, 2018, in Minneapolis. It’s a one-stop event full of kindness activities, service projects, and lots of fun.
Background:
The Festival of Giving is presented by Doing Good Together, a Twin Cities nonprofit that helps big-hearted families to raise generous children by offering opportunities to serve others together. They provide early lessons on developing empathy and giving back through family volunteer projects, service fairs, and other programs.
Festival of Giving Activities:
There will be a wide range of service projects so you can support your favorite causes or learn more about other issues including fostering literacy, fighting hunger, welcoming immigrants, caring for animals, and protecting the environment. Kids can enjoy printing t-shirts, getting temporary tattoos, and meeting and greeting service dogs. For entertainment, there are live performances from COMPAS and Kalpulli Ketzal Coatlicue and Duniya Drum and Dance, along with instrument demonstrations from MacPhail Center for Music. You can also express your own creativity by contributing to a giant cooperative kindness art installation. You won’t go hungry either. Corn dogs, lemonade, and other refreshments will be available for purchase. Finally, remember to bring a new pair of socks to hang on the community clothesline. They’ll be donated to Simpson Housing Service.
How to Participate:
The Festival of Giving will be on September 30 at Nicollet Island Pavilion from noon to 4 pm. Tickets are $5 per person or $20 maximum for the whole family. Visit the website for additional ticket and sponsorship information. To stay engaged, sign up for the Doing Good Together newsletter or check the website for monthly volunteer opportunities.
