Minneapolis
Minneapolis is full of fun places to take your kids whether they love watching SpongeBob, riding roller coasters or making their own art. Here are 5 of our favorite family-friendly attractions in the Twin Cities:
Nickelodeon Universe: It’s the largest indoor theme park in the United States. Your kids can meet their favorite characters like Dora and SpongeBob face to face, enjoy 27 thrilling rides, and cross the park on a zip line. Plus, Paw Patrol characters are coming! They’re debuting a Paw Patrol ride described as an open-play experience, starting in the summer of 2018.
Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre: This 300-seat theatre in a former art deco cinema is home to a performing company that offers original productions, touring performances, annual MayDay Parades and Festivals, teaching in schools, and collaborations with various communities and activists. Each winter there are Saturday morning matinees for kids with puppet-making workshops in between shows.
Crayola Experience: It’s 60,000 square feet of attractions inspired by the famous crayons. Where else can you star in your own coloring page, invent a new crayon, and learn how crayons are made? There’s even a 2-story playground with a melted wax tower and crayon box slide.
Valley Fair: Looking for an amusement park for the whole family? Valley Fair has rides for all ages and levels of thrill-seeking. Check out the new Delirious ride, cool off at Soak City Waterpark, and enjoy the endless events each summer including food truck festivals and more.
Kinder Konzerts: The Minnesota Orchestra offers this series of children’s performances each year featuring a narrated story with live music. Your kids will learn simple musical concepts and get a chance to touch the instruments.
